The ninth “Canis Majoris”, the composition concert organised as a tradition by the YTU Faculty of Art and Design, was hosted by the university. Taking its name from VY Canis Majoris, one of the brightest stars in the universe, the event this year was dedicated to the cherished memory of İlhan Usmanbaş, a doyen of Turkish contemporary music. In the concert featuring original works by 12 composers comprising undergraduate and graduate students, graduates, and academics, a rich repertoire was presented including solo piano, string quartet, choir, and electro-acoustic performances.
