ECHO Project (Energy Communities Excellence Hubs: Catalyzing Energy Innovation Ecosystems)

Dr. Ozan Erdinç, a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department at Yıldız Technical University, is leading the ECHO project (Energy Communities Excellence Hubs: Catalyzing Energy Innovation Ecosystems), for which YTU serves as the coordinating institution. The project has been awarded funding of €5 million under the HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-07-01 call.

Within the scope of this project, Energy Communities and Centers of Excellence for Innovative Energy Services will be established in Turkey, Greece, and Portugal. These centers will accelerate the energy transition by enhancing innovation ecosystems, building capacity, and empowering local stakeholders.

The ECHO consortium employs the Quadruple Helix model, bringing together academia, industry, government, and civil society in a collaborative framework. By focusing on sustainable, scalable, and inclusive energy communities, ECHO aligns closely with the EU’s energy transition goals.

By bridging regional strengths and empowering stakeholders, ECHO will make a significant contribution to building a resilient and equitable energy landscape.
