Innovative Construction Materials Research Project Supported under the TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 Program

A research project led by Prof. Dr. Mücteba Uysal from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, has been funded under the TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program. Entitled “Investigation of the Self-Healing Potential of Recycled Aggregate Geopolymer Mortars Exposed to Durability Effects Using Bacterial and Fungal Strains with Different Metabolic Characteristics,” the project explores the self-healing capabilities of recycled aggregate-based geopolymer mortars through biological approaches involving selected bacterial and fungal strains. The research aims to enhance the durability and service life of sustainable construction materials by utilizing microorganism-assisted self-repair mechanisms. By combining recycled materials, geopolymer technology, and bio-based healing strategies, the project contributes to the development of environmentally friendly, resilient, and long-lasting construction materials for future infrastructure applications.
