Innovative Environmental Technologies Project Supported under the TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 Program

A research project led by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çakmakcı from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program. Entitled “Removal of PFAS Compounds from Landfill Leachate by Membrane Distillation Using Surface-Coated Superhydrophobic Membranes,” the project aims to develop innovative treatment technologies for the removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a group of persistent contaminants that pose significant risks to environmental and human health. By employing advanced superhydrophobic membrane technologies and membrane distillation processes, the research seeks to improve the treatment of landfill leachate and contribute to more sustainable water and waste management practices.
