Mediterranean Fish Health and Blue Economy Research

The “AquaMed” project, coordinated by Associate Professor Hilal Ay from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, has been selected for funding under the European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW) call. The project focuses on the identification of pathogens affecting fish species in the Mediterranean region and the development of immune-based solutions to combat these diseases. By improving fish health management and disease control strategies, the project aims to enhance productivity in aquaculture and contribute to the advancement of regional Blue Economy objectives. Through innovative approaches to aquatic animal health, AquaMed seeks to support sustainable fisheries and aquaculture systems while strengthening food production and environmental sustainability.
