Presentation of the SHORE Project at the European Commission

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afşın Çetinkaya, faculty member of the Department of Environmental Engineering and Coordinator of the SHORE Project, presented the project's achievements and ongoing activities during a panel session at the Third Mission Ocean and Waters Forum, organized by the European Commission. The presentation highlighted the importance of enhancing water literacy and encouraging young people to take an active role in environmental stewardship as key drivers for the protection of oceans and aquatic ecosystems. The forum, which focused on the European Union’s objective of protecting and restoring oceans and waters by 2030, provided a platform to discuss the integration of the SHORE Project with policy initiatives such as the European Ocean Pact. The project was presented as a science-based model supporting ecosystem restoration, environmental awareness, and citizen engagement in sustainable water management.
