Dr. Benzegül Durak, a graduate of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences at Yıldız Technical University, achieved a significant accomplishment at the 2025 TÜBA–TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards through her outstanding academic research. Her doctoral dissertation entitled “Exploring Middle School Science Teachers’ Professional Development on Socioscientific Issues and Model-Based Learning: A Multiple-Case Study,” conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sami Topçu, was awarded Third Place in Türkiye in the Social Sciences and Humanities category. The study contributes to the advancement of science education by examining the professional development processes of middle school science teachers in relation to socioscientific issues and model-based learning approaches, providing valuable insights for teacher education and educational innovation.
