TÜBİTAK 2247-A National Leading Researcher Grant for Advanced Boron Nitride Materials

A research project led by Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kaya from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2247-A National Leading Researchers Program. The project focuses on the development of nano- and micro-scale hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) using domestically sourced raw materials. The research investigates the synthesis and performance of advanced boron-based materials for strategic applications in the defense and energy sectors, including supercapacitors, high-strength armor systems, and neutron shielding technologies. Conducted under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kaya, who has been recognized among the world's most influential scientists by Stanford University, the project aims to reduce dependence on imported critical materials while strengthening Türkiye’s technological capabilities, industrial competitiveness, and innovation capacity through the utilization of local resources.
