TÜBİTAK 2566 – NSFC Bilateral Cooperation Project on Sustainable Biomass Valorization

A project led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanife Sarı Erkan from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, has been funded under the TÜBİTAK 2566 – National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Bilateral Cooperation Program. Entitled “Chemical and Microbial Mechanisms in Waste Biomass Reforming Coupled with Carbon Chain Elongation,” the project focuses on developing innovative approaches for the conversion and valorization of waste biomass. The research investigates advanced chemical and microbial pathways that enable the transformation of waste biomass into value-added products and sustainable energy carriers. By integrating biotechnology, environmental engineering, and resource recovery strategies, the project aims to contribute to renewable energy production, circular economy practices, and the efficient utilization of biological waste resources. The international collaboration also promotes scientific knowledge exchange and strengthens research capacity in sustainable environmental technologies.
