YTU actively contributed to the TÜBA Workshop on Urban Transformation and Sustainable Cities, organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and hosted by Sinop University in 2024.
YTU Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik and Prof. Dr. Güleda Engin, a faculty member of the Department of Environmental Engineering, participated in the workshop alongside TÜBA members. The event focused on key topics including urban transformation, sustainable city planning, energy policies, environmental management, and biodiversity conservation.
The workshop addressed critical issues such as the protection of natural habitats, restoration of degraded ecosystems, integration of green infrastructure into urban areas, and the incorporation of ecosystem services into planning and policy-making processes. Bringing together representatives from public institutions, local governments, universities, and researchers, the event served as a national platform for developing strategies and policy recommendations for sustainable urban transformation.
This participation highlights Yıldız Technical University’s active role in sustainable urban development, climate-resilient planning, protection of natural ecosystems, and national-level policy collaboration.
