YTU actively advances its Zero Waste Management System through hands-on environmental initiatives that promote awareness and sustainable practices among students and staff. The university continuously works to minimize the environmental impact of waste generation, encouraging recycling, recovery, and the reintegration of valuable materials into the circular economy.
As part of its Green Campus and Climate Action Strategy, YTU operates on-campus composting machines that convert organic waste into nutrient-rich compost. This compost is used in landscaping and urban agriculture areas across the Davutpaşa Campus, reducing landfill waste while contributing to soil health and sustainability.
On March 30, International Zero Waste Day, YTU organized a Composting Workshop led by KampüSıfır in collaboration with the YTU Environmental Club. The event included an informative session on composting methods followed by an interactive, hands-on activity where participants learned how to turn organic waste into compost. The workshop successfully raised awareness about waste reduction and sustainable living practices within the campus community.
