2D Application of FDTD Technique with NI LabVIEW

Reyhan Yurt YTU , Hamid Torpi YTU

Abstract

In this paper, by using NI LabVIEW graphical programming, wave propagation in two-dimensional space is modelled with FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method. FDTD method is applied to an infinitely long parallel plate waveguide for TM mode by using NI LABVIEW to compare its efficiency with text-based programming languages like MATLAB. It is found that although NI LABVIEW has complexity because of controlling nested loops (case structures) and data flow in arrays between loops to implement it takes less time than MATLAB to obtain simulation results.
