Selda Balcan YTU , Burak Boyraz YTU

Abstract

The purpose of this study; It aims to present an investigation that contributes to the acceleration of the widespread use of biodegradable packaging by encouraging the optimization of the weaknesses identified as a result of examining the design and usage qualities of biodegradable packaging. By emphasizing the advantages of biodegradable packaging materials (which dissolve in nature without leaving waste or harmful residues), which constitute an alternative to packaging materials that require recycling such as plastic, paper and metal, and which are promising for the future in terms of sustainability, findings are made in the context of graphic design, functionality, hygiene and ergonomics in packages with this feature. It is aimed to present research that raises awareness of the need to eliminate the problems that create deficiencies or inconveniences identified through qualitative analysis and at the same time contributes to the limited literature on this subject. This study; The discovery of packaging materials that do not adapt to the regenerative structure of nature along with developing technology is important in terms of drawing attention to the insufficient awareness of packaging recycling in societies and the use of natural materials that can replace materials such as plastic that accumulate in the environment and the factors that make it difficult for them to become widespread.
