Abstract

In this study, the control problem to be encountered on the axle shaft test system is examined and Adaptive Fuzzy PID (AF-PID) control method is proposed according to the problem to be encountered. The problem with the test system is that the stiffness values of the parts to be tested differ; therefore, the scaling factors of the control method to be applied will need to be self-adjustable during the test. To achieve this, the AF-PID controller has been developed. To compare the performance of AF-PID controller, classical PID and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) were also tested for axle shaft testing. The developed controllers were simulated on test pieces of various stiffness. ISE and ITSE values which are used for evaluating control performances, were compared for the unit step reference inputs, and error graphs were examined in the sinusoidal reference, which is the life test. It has been observed that the AF-PID controller gives more suitable results for both types of reference inputs.
