Abstract
Societiesare and have been in search for ideal city throughout the history. The searchfor the “ideal” which is perceived to solve the problems of era, formed urban typologies.Nowadays, one of the most significant problems in settlements are environmentalproblems. Using natural resources as if they were unlimited means that nextgeneration will have difficulty for to meet their needs in the future. Theseare directly related to sustainability. Sustainability of the settlement isprobably the most important issue that is going to shapefuture. These subjects affect urban typology studies and parameters ofsustainable settlements. There are wide range of settlement models whose goalis sustainability in the world. Even if these models have some differences inscale or methods, the major similarity is that their goal is to becomeeco-friendly and sustainable. Today, the most common models are eco-cities andslow cities (cittaslow). In thisstudy, comparison of the eco-city and slow city are evaluated. These models arecompared with sustainability's economic, ecologic and social dimensions.Similarities, differences of the models and the effects of the urban typologiesare mentioned. According to results of the research, eco-cities in Turkey payattention to ecological dimension.  Asfor slow cities in Turkey, they carry out the projects which include alldimensions almost evenly.
