Galleries wıth Highly Destroyed Authenticity in Architect Sinan's Mosques in Istanbul

Abstract

Sinan the Architect was an architect and an extraordinary designer who was able to create a unique style. Understanding and evaluating the architectural heritage left by Sinan the Architect, especially with some of his design principles, is also important for today's architecture. In order to evaluate this heritage in one aspect, the mosques of Sinan the Architect in Istanbul and the galleries, which are among the most important elements in the design of these mosques, should be examined according to their architectural features. This study was based on the galleries in some of the Sinan the Architect’s mosques and the changes or differences seen in these galleries after the first construction dates. It was determined that such galleries, whose originality has been largely damaged, are located in Haseki Hürrem Sultan Mosque, Molla Çelebi Mosque and Atik Valide Sultan (Nurbanu) Mosque. The architectural features of the galleries in these buildings were examined and compared to other galleries in Sinan the Architect’s mosques in Istanbul.
