Abstract
Electrospinning is a useful and efficient method for fabrication of nano-sized fibers with high ratio of surface area to volume for broad spectrum of technological areas such as tissue repairing and wood dressing, biosensors, membrane applications, drug delivery, catalytic system and enzyme immobilization. Continuous nanofibers are produced by applying the high electric field on polymer solution/ melt under optimized process parameters. The concept of electrospinning get established with observation of electric attraction in 1600s and to obtain with high quality and functionality nanofibers and its composites, it is important to developed rapid growth at electrospinning technique. With these perspectives in this chapter, its aim is to define the fundamental aspects of the electrospinning technique with milestones of its development, deeply look into the setup and configurations, and understand well the impact of processing conditions in order to design the geometry, morphology, and functionality of nanofibers.
