Abstract

The analysis of the radiation from dielectric covered slot arrays is an interesting topic for practical applications. In this paper, the diffraction of a plane wave by a dielectric covered slot in an infinite impedance plane is considered as a canonical problem for slot array configuration, where the analysis is confined to the doubly diffracted rays. A traditional approach for evaluating this type of ray fields is to repeteadly employ the edge diffraction coefficient with the incident field being the one diffracted from the previous edge. Our analysis depends on the Fourier transform technique which requires the solution of a modified Wiener-Hopf equation. This problem is reduced to a system of Fredholm equation of the second kind and solved by the successive approximations technique.
