Abstract
Precise hole machining has always been a challenge despite the variety of axial machining processes. This paper is devoted to the issues of cylindrical reaming of holes in structural steel C45 using HSS tool. The surface quality of the finished holes largely depends on the contact pressures that arise and the process media used during process. The study shows the influence of various technical fluids, both used in production and environmentally friendly, on the resulting contact pressures and surface quality. The contact pressure was measured by strain gauges bonded along the generatrix of the part and recorded using a TS-8 strain gauge station. The quality parameters were roundness, cylindricality and surface roughness. All investigated coolants were supplied to the cutting zone by the MQL method. Sunflower oil and animal (pork) fat were used as environmentally friendly technical fluids. These media significantly reduce the coefficient of friction in the area of contact between the tool and the part. The results show that the use of environmentally friendly fluids does not significantly affect the deviation from the roundness of the hole, but in general has a positive effect on the quality obtained. This is reflected in a decrease in contact pressures and surface roughness.
