Single Input Interval Type-3 Fuzzy PID Controller Approach

Abstract

Footprint of uncertainty of the interval type-3 fuzzy (IT3) system is consist of the interval type-2 sets. For this reason, type- 3 fuzzy system is successfully deals with the higher order uncertainty, disturbance and parameter uncertainty than interval type- 2 fuzzy (IT2) system and conventional controller. In this work, we will design single input type-3 fuzzy PID (SIT3FPID) controller for nonlinear system. The SIT3-FPID controller is consists of the conventional PID controller and IT3 system. In the design of SIT3-FPID controller, three triangular interval type- 3 membership functions for input variable and three singleton membership functions are used to output variable. Demonstrated the performance of the SIT3-FPID controller compare the SIT2-FPID and conventional PID controller for the different types of conditions such as nominal, input disturbance, output disturbance, parameter uncertainty and noise. The simulations results are showed that the performance of the SIT3-FPID controller better and robustness than SIT2-FPID and conventional PID controller.
