Abstract

In this paper, PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative), cascade, and fuzzy logic controller (FLC) controllers are developed for the Pitch and Yaw angles of a two-degrees-of-freedom helicopter system (2-DOF HS). Two different FLCs are used for Pitch and yaw angles in order to provide the output speed. A Mamdani-type FLC is implemented for the 2-DOF HS. The inputs of FLC are position error and rate of errors. The FLC is developed to give accurate results in terms of time domain specifications compared to PID and cascade controllers. All controllers have been established in MATLAB/ SIMULINK to test their control performance. According to the obtained simulation results, the FLC returns accurate control results, and robustness to eliminate the external disturbances.
