Superimposed waveforms for users with high data rate at 5G wireless networks

Abstract

The generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) waveform has been considered as candidate waveform for the next generation 5G communication system. The signal is transmitted with couple of subcarriers and the sub-symbols. The symbol at each subsymbol is transmitted by frequency shifted versions of a filter. Here, the data rate can be increased by using to orthogonal polynomials instead of the famous filters i.e., raised cosine (RC) or Gaussian filter. In a recent work that is called as OFDMA lattice structure via toroidal waveforms, the number of the symbol increases with using the orthogonal functions. Although the study showed promising results for the data rate values, the complexity of the transceiver increases. Based on the shortcomings of the study, (i) time and frequency shifted versions of the orthogonal polynomial are used, and (ii) the complexity is reduced by using Fourier transform and polyphase components. In addition, the proposed waveform design has been tested with simulated results.
