Abstract

A fluorene derivative, 9 H-fluoren-9-one(diphenylmethylene)hydrazone has been synthesised from the reaction of 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one with benzophenone hydrazone and a 1,10-phenanthroline derivative, N-[(1E,2E)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-ylidene]-1,10-phenanthrolin-5-amine has been synthesised from the reaction of 5-amino-1,10-phenanthroline with cinnamaldehyde. Ru(II) complexes of these ligands have been prepared and characterised.
