Türkiye Workshop: Sustainable Campuses
Yıldız Technical University ranked 45th worldwide in the 2026 UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings and was named "Türkiye's Most Active University." To share this experience, our University will host the 2026 GreenMetric Türkiye Workshop on 10-11 December 2026 at the Historical Bath (Tarihi Hamam) on the Davutpaşa Campus.
About the Workshop
Yıldız Technical University has risen to 45th place worldwide in the 2026 UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings, in which more than 2,000 universities were assessed, and has been named "Türkiye's Most Active University" by UI GreenMetric. This achievement reflects the level our University has reached in sustainable campus practices and the leading role it plays among higher-education institutions in Türkiye.
To share this experience with other universities across the country, our University will host the 2026 GreenMetric Türkiye Workshop on 10-11 December 2026 at the Tarihi Hamam on the Davutpaşa Campus. This two-day national workshop brings together higher-education institutions in Türkiye around sustainability indicators and green transformation strategies. The workshop aims to share sustainability work, strengthen knowledge and experience exchange among universities, and promote wider adoption of sustainable university practices.

Themes
Over two days, parallel sessions, invited talks, and panel discussions will cover the following tracks:
- Setting & Infrastructure: Green space, ecological landscaping, building density, open-space management.
- Energy & Climate Change: Renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon footprint, climate policy.
- Waste: Recycling, composting, hazardous waste, zero-waste practices.
- Water: Water consumption, reuse, treatment, and smart water infrastructure.
- Transportation: Bike- and pedestrian-friendly campuses, low-emission mobility, on-campus transport.
- Education & Research: Sustainability curriculum, student projects, sustainability-focused publications and funding.
- Reporting & Governance: UI GreenMetric methodology, data-collection tools, verification, and transparency.

The workshop is open to all higher-education institutions in Türkiye, academics, sustainability office staff, and students.
