A New Era of Sustainability at YTU: From Heritage to Innovation in Campus and Infrastructure through the Environment, Landscape, and Sustainability Directorate

Marking another major step in Yıldız Technical University’s path toward sustainable transformation, the Directorate of Environment, Landscape, and Sustainability has been officially established. This new directorate operates with a focus on a smart, green, inclusive, and sustainable campus, and leads efforts to implement and promote these values across all aspects of campus life.
Water Management
Yıldız Technical University is committed to sustaining the natural water cycle through responsible and innovative water management practices. By increasing permeable surfaces and expanding green areas across its campuses, YTU enables rainwater to naturally infiltrate the soil, reducing surface runoff, flooding, and pollution. These efforts not only help replenish groundwater reserves but also support biodiversity and soil health, creating a more balanced and resilient ecosystem. In addition, the university implements smart irrigation systems, utilizes drought-tolerant native plants, and develops rainwater harvesting projects to enhance water efficiency. Through these integrated measures, YTU continues to lead by example in sustainable resource management and environmentally conscious campus design.
Barrier-Free and Inclusive Campus Life
